The Second Sight MS is a FTIR based technology standoff chemical gas detector for real time surveillance, ideally suited to military, homeland security response and industrial operations. But what makes this “standoff” stand out from its competitors?
1. The Widest Monitored Field of View
The Second Sight MS offers the widest field of vision in the market. A standard 60° angle lens allows for detection of hazardous gases and vapors with a range of over 0.6 miles (1Km). Ranges can be extended out to 3+ miles (5Km) as you narrow the scope down to 12°. There’s also a 30° lens extending a mid-range to over 1.25 miles (2Km). Changing lenses is as simple as unscrewing the installed lens and screwing in the next option.
- Second Sight MS has the best Field Surface Scanning Rate of (FSSR) 360 °²/s; enhanced and faster data imaging helps with critical decisions in the field.
- Alarm detection at the scene in 10 to 12 seconds allows for important decisions to be made for overall field applications.

2. Detects Unknown Chemicals
The Second Sight MS can identify approximately 50 chemicals, both TICs & CWA, and it offers a unique feature called the “Gas X function” to detect the presence hundreds of “other” gases, alerting first responders that there is a hazard to assess. UAVs can be deployed to “capture samples” for further detailed analysis.
- The Second Sight MS will highlight the gas cloud even if the calibration file is not in the database and it will also detect mixed or impure gases. When possible, it will also identify the gas.
3. A Single Man-Portable Equipment
The Second Sight MS is the lightest device and easy to set up and operate. One person can transport the device and enable it once it is in its deployable location!
- Less than 4 minutes from case to start up!
- User friendly HMI (Human Machine Interface)
4. Versatile Features
The Second Sight MS has several accessories that allow for vehicle integration, pan and tilt operation, and can run 24/7 surveillance, even in very harsh environments. When completely outfitted the Second Sight MS offers 360° pan monitoring with a 90° tilt in as short of time as four minutes.
5. Proven Track Record & Solid Customer Refences
The Second Sight MS is in use in 18 different countries, with over 30 end users across the globe.
As concrete examples, 2 Second Sight MS were used at the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024 and has been used by Boston FD Special Operations for nearly 10 years.
As the USA, Canada and Mexico prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup event it is time to see what makes the Second Sight MS so enticing for the first responder and homeland security market!
“We’re impressed with the Second Sight MS, it is easy to deploy and with the wide area of coverage it offers. The Second Sight MS helps us identify airborne gas threats immediately upon release.”

Conclusion
As your search for new technology and “tools for your toolbox” extend into venue protection through detection, then now is the time to look at the Second Sight MS. When you need to “extend and enhance your visibility to see” gases at a distance while not sapping manpower or other resources to accomplish your mission, please contact us to speak directly with the folks using the gear. We’ve performed demos across the USA and will continue to do so. Feel free to reach out!
