Bioterrorism Moving up in Nato’s Agenda

Nato’s Science and Technology Committee (STC), more specificaly the Sub-Committee on Technological Trends and Security (STCTTS), published in 9th of April 2021 the preliminary draft report on Biological Weapons: Technological Progress and the Spectre of Bioterrorism in the Post-covid-19 Era.

This draft report provides a general overview of the current biological threat landscape, since the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic revealed vulnerabilities on a global scale to biological threats, including biological attacks.

This document reflects on the opportunities offered by biotechnology and other Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs), as well as the main challenges posed by BWAs (Biological Warfare Agents).

Environics has developed its own in-house technologies for tackling biological threats.
